[Historical report of the split of the second church in
Ipswich in March, 1743,4. The issue was apparently resolved
peaceably by reuniting in 1774.]
The Rev'd Mr. Leslie, as president of the council, & in
their name, after the union, gave the right hand of
fellowship to the united church under the name of the second
church of Ipswich,. . . and then all joined in a song of
praise to God, saying,
  Lo, what an entertaining sight
  Are brethren that agree,
  Brethren, whose cheerful hearts unite,
In bonds of piety, &c. &c.
[signed] Pacificus.
